Goodbye Animagique!

February 1, 2016

Rumors were there for quite a long time. The show Animagique would stop and would be followed up by a new show. A few months ago this news became reality and the show at the Walt Disney Studios Park, in Disneyland Paris would have it's last show on January 31, 2016.

This 20 minute blacklight stage show starts with Mickey and Donald. Donald is very curious to find out what's inside the Cinematheque, which is strictly forbidden for him. But after Mickey leaves, Donald decides to open the door. In a flash Donald is inside the Disney Animation Vault, with many Disney movies and scenes from Dumbo, The Jungle book, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King come to life with special effects, puppetry and characters.

The show ran from March 16, 2002 until January 31, 2016.
It had it's first performance on opening day of the Walt Disney Studios.
At first the show included a scene from Pinocchio, but it was replaced by The Little Mermaid scene a few months later.

For 14 years this show was performed for over 1100 guests per show, five times a day.
Which means 28.700 performances in total for 17 million guests!
The last performance of Animagique on January 31, 2016 at 6.00 pm was a special performance for castmembers.

Here are two videos of this last performance.
The first one was recorded by DLP Welcome and shows the introduction by Sonia Demay, Disneyland Paris Ambassador and Katy Hariss, Show Director.

And here is the presentation that was shown right before the show started.

Personally i feel sad that this show stopped. I often visited this show during my trips. For me it's a cute and happy show with true Disney magic and my favorite scene was the Little Mermaid scene.
I am glad to see that Animagique got a well deserved farewell. Goodbye Animagique!

But.. i'm also looking forward to the new show that will replace Animagique.
Which is Mickey and the Magician and will launch from July 2, 2016.
